Hundreds to march in N.O. to protest wage theft

Friday, April 30, 2010

On the day New Orleans Mayor-elect Mitch Landrieu is set to take office, hundreds of workers are expected to march in the city to push for the adoption of an anti-wage theft ordinance.

Those involved in the march, which begins at noon Saturday at Louis Armstrong Park, include the Congress of Day Laborers and New Orleans Workers’ Center for Racial Justice.

Marchers will convene on City Hall at 1:30 p.m.

According to a press release, “workers will also expose Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s violations of civil and constitutional rights, filing a formal complaint against ICE for egregious abuses.” (click on link to read full story)
